Last night I was reading the Bible and missed "The Office"
My child is reading about the Middle East in her history class and has to write (make up a story) about being in a caravan so I remembered the story of Jacob when he took his two wives and camels, sheep, servants, etc. to go back home because there's some interesting information in it I thought she could use. Aside from the KJV language which might be a little tricky for her I realized these bible guys were always having sex. Funny, because I grew up in a fundie boarding school where we read this version all the time, while at the same time, for us to mention the word sex could get us into trouble. Then it was 9:30 and thankfully another "The Office" came on.

1. So he's lifting the story from another source...
...instead of making-up his own?

Sorry if I have it wrong, but your remarks look like you're facilitating plagiarism.

Also, when kidnapping a pizza delivery boy, $2 is too small of a tip.

8. It can be a wonderful source for studying language, storytelling, etc.
I wouldn't trust it for historical facts and/or details, however, just as I would not trust the Bhagavad Gita, the Qu'ran, any of the sutras, etc.

12. It can be a source for info about ancient Near Eastern culture.
That's what the OP was using it for.

10. Ah, I see. Sorry.
I think the OT is a good source because even if the specific stories are fictional, the writers knew enough about pastural life to be able to portray it accurately. They did not typically go into great detail, on the other hand.

19. Yes, I had forgotten about the handmaids doing their part for the tribe.
I did remember the part about Rachel putting her dad's idols in the camelbags and sitting on them and pretending she was on her period so he couldn't find them. Clever gal, that one.
