LA-area DUers: a call for help.
My husband-from-whom-I-am-separated (STBX for lack of a better word) lives about 3 miles from me in the Conejo valley with our son. We get along well, though the relationship is peppered with the occasional testy exchange.

We have known for a while that his landlord was foreclosing on his mortgage on the condo.

Some time back I planned a weeklong trip to France to visit a friend, departing last Tuesday and returning this Monday. Last Saturday the other shoe began to drop in the foreclosure situation; he was served with a notice of um...illegal occupation or something; I forget the exact term. Based on his previous research, we thought he had some time to fight this thing. He decided to consult a housing rights legal-aid organization.

Monday was Columbus Day; the organization and courts were closed. I decided to proceed with my trip, as the trip has been booked for a while, the nine hundred dollars is non refundable, and based on what I knew, I thought it would not come to a head within the week.

Tuesday I depart, and he consults with the housing rights organization. It turns out he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on, Right now he's not a party to the proceedings, so it is to his advantage to vacate pronto. He believes the sheriff will show up with a five-day notice at any time. He decides he doesn't want to take the risk and starts looking for a new place.

After some househunting, wrangling and extreme anxiety, he locates a place to live.

Now my request. He is starting to pack and move. I won't be home until Monday. Are there any Conejo or SF Valley or West LA DUers who can help him over the weekend? We do not know very many people out here, so I am having to cast a wide net.

2. Kicking for an ex-Chicagoan....
I hope that you are able to find help for him, and enjoying yourself in France.
