Laundry Help!!!!!
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 04:32 PM by elfrangel
I need some serious laundry advice.

I did a load of whites which included my Clinical Uniform. When I took the stuff out of the dryer - I missed it when I shifted everything over - I noticed areas that match a shade of Lipstick that I have. I'm not sure which it is, but if you have any ideas about how to get this stuff out, I would REALLY appreciate it. Uniforms cost about $60 and I just don't have the extra funds to replace it right now.

Thanks in advance!!!

Edit: figured out it's the lipstick.

When you need to remove a stain, turn the garment inside out. Use something like Clorox Stain Out (I love that stuff). Anyway, if you turn it the opposite way the stain went in, and put stain out remover on it, it tends to push the stain out of the fabric. Let it soak for about 10-15 mins. Then, using a harsh detergent (like Tide) soak the garment(s) in cold water (hot water, and unfortunately the dryer, sets stains). Then, wash the laundry as normal.

Good luck. I hate to tell you this, but once a stain takes the heat of a dryer it's pretty difficult to remove it. It can be done though. And, after the stain removal process is almost completed, then washing whites in hot water makes them whiter.

I hope this didn't confuse you!

2. i have had lots of luck with shampoo
make the fabric a bit wet, poor on some shampoo and work it in.
haven't tried it on lipstick but it works on lots of proteins.
Also having it in the dryer might have cooked your goose.

3. Some ink stains come out with hairspray but in your case I'd suggest goo gone
Good luck. Back in the "olden" days when medical staff had to wear white and I had forgotten to remove ink pens from pockets the two remedies above saved me tons of money.

6. Bleach? It's the color that is staining.
So I think a Clorox Bleach pen is a good idea....just on the spots themselves.
