1. He's been very solid lately.
With a 5 run lead, I'm not worried. If it were a 1 or 2 run lead on the other hand... :yoiks:

2. I remember him from when he was a Twin
He would have streaks of brilliance. But his lows were the depths of suckitude.

5. That's EXACTLY how it was at the start of the season.
He sucked out loud the first couple months of the season before he finally calmed down a little bit.

6. He is a head case, for sure - but what pitcher isn't?

16. The real whackos are the left-handers
One night after a minor league game, a right-hander tried to explain this to me, with a left-hander standing right there (who happened to be Lou Boudreau's son). He said it had something to do with the dominant side of their brains not being in harmony with the Earth's rotation.

Sandy Koufax is the only exception I can think of.

17. I can attest to something not being quite "right" with many southpaw pitchers
I saw it on my son's baseball teams all the time. Wonder why that is...

3. Pardon my ignorance, my dear KW...
Which game are you watching?

My Tivo ate the end of my recording of the Indian/Red Sox game...

I wanted to see them win!

:hi:

9. I knows it
Sometimes I feel like Patty Duke as Neely O'Hara in "Valley Of the Dolls," when her boyfriend/manager Mel (Martin Milner) tells her how rotten show business is and she says, "I know... but I love it."

10. And I wish I could tell you that you were not missing anything
But you know better than that.

Honestly, I believe the better baseball is being played in the NL this post season.

11. I don't so much miss watching the game itself
The radio's always been fine for that.

But I really love seeing fans go crazy — unless they're fans of Teh Enemy. :D

18. Hawkins was with the Giants for less than a full season. The Giants went to Chicago....
and someone held a sign that read: SF, THANKS FOR TAKING HAWKINS.

The Rockies also have Herges, who pitched good for the Giants 50% of the time.
