My employer is offering flu shots tomorrow--should I get one?
Sure, I could be soliciting medical input, but that would be boring, so I explicitly declare that I am not seeking medical advice.

Besides, I've already made my decision, and nothing posted here will change my mind.

Instead, I'm hoping to receive a bunch of amusing suggestions pro- and con-.

Come on, Lounge--let's see what you've got to say on the subject.

2. If they're free and even if not, for the sake of convenience I would.
DH and I just went for a blood screening today offered free at his employer through the employee health insurance company. Granted I almost passed out but then that would have happened if I'd gone to a lab too.

Twas very convenient..no waiting time, no having to see the Dr. first to get the order, then drive 15 miles to the lab.

I'm hoping they do the flu shots too.

So what's your decision? Yeah or nay?

6. I opted nay, for several reasons
Unfortunately, one of them was simply the cost. They were $47, which alas I wasn't able to spare.

16. That's outrageous!
You can get a flu shot for lots less. I am just getting over the flu which turned into pneumonia. Get the flue shot somewhere.

18. The last time I got my flue shot
I wound up with a hole in my chimney.

Hardy har har.

(This super-spectacularly funny joke brought to you specifically because I committed that same typo about a dozen times in the course of this thread.)

21. Wow, that sounds high to me.
I know around here you can get them at many different places usually announced a week or so in advance. They are more reasonable than that.

I've never had one..been thinking this year might be my first year. I've always been afraid of having some type of reaction.

24. As long as it isn't the minge, you should be fine
But maybe you should wait until the next full moon for your shot.

15. No, I'm too old to breastfeed. I eat solid food now.
Besides, in the 1960s when I was small it was customary to feed infants formula made from bovine milk. Don't ask me why.

12. Yes
I always get one because the one year that I didn't get a flu shot, I got the flu (and was pregnant at the time). I was totally miserable.

Failure to get a flu shot causes pregnancy!

That's all the convincing I need.

17. Haven't had a cold in years since I started annual flu shots.
I used to catch colds 2-3 times per year, lasting two weeks each time. Not anymore.

19. Shot, schmot. Will they have lollipops?
I like the green ones with my flu shot. Though last year I had a purple one with my flu and pneumonia shots.

I'm thinking about getting a shingles shot. I don't know what color candy goes with that.

More advice? Wear a short-sleeve shirt. Preferably red.

:hi:

20. Here's a joke to try, the next time you're getting a shot
When the nurse asks "Which arm would you like it in?"

Say "How about yours?"

I guarantee that it'll have 'em rolling in the aisles.
