I could care less. I couldn't care less. Please think about what you're saying
Someone in a thread here (the one about Rachael Ray) wrote, "I could give a shit about her audience".

You could?

And then some people say "I could care less" when what they clearly mean is that they couldn't care less. If you could care less, then that means that you do care some.

Maybe they're mimicking someone who said, "I could care less, but..." followed by some sarcastic hyperbole. However no one ever follows through with what might happen if they did suddenly start caring less. And whenever people say "I could care less" they invariably emphasize the last two words, never the word "could."

Please, if you are unable to offer less concern on a matter, do not taunt me by suggesting that you could care less. You can't. You are unable to care any less... particularly if you've reached the point where you don't care at all. Once you no longer care, you can't care less. Please don't say you can.

And fuck you, Olive Garden.

2. I Couldnt Care More
or Less when you actually have the person that objects to the situation
and they feel involved to the point of posting something that distracts
from the real reason the thread was introduced anyway, contrary to
what some people believe is the best possible solution given all the facts
and statements you would want them to not say anything at all probably is
the best way to deal with the original subject.

What was the question again?    :hi:

3. Yes, that is bothersome.
People say things and have no idea what they're saying. But then again, I usually couldn't care less what they have to say anyway. :P

4. I agree, however the incorrect version now
seems to be more popular than the correct one. It is annoying. As is "irregardless."

6. You *could* care less, but don't want to bother.
That's how I like to think of it: complete ennui.

Grammar sticklers just like to feel they're better than other people! ;)
