OMG I am related to bush!!!
Pleas forgive me but I just had to get this off my chest. I feel that if I did not;t tell I wold be forever tainted by it.
I am related through his mother Barbra Pierce Bush and he is my 8th cosine
But my question to those of you that know such things is does the smell follow you as an eight cosine?
And is it still OK for me to post on DU?

If there are anyone else out there that would like to fess up to being related in such a manner now would be the time to fess up.

1. well, technically, we're *all* related
It's just a matter of how closely you are related.

3. It looks that way, Cheney and Obama are eighth cousins
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21340764/

WASHINGTON - Though they may spar across the political aisle, Vice President Dick Cheney is close enough to Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama to call him “cousin.”

Eighth cousin, that is.

Lynne Cheney, the vice president’s wife, revealed this tantalizing bit of political trivia during a television interview Tuesday.

...

A spokesman for Obama, who wants to be the first black U.S. president, offered a tongue-in-cheek response. “Every family has a black sheep,” said spokesman Bill Burton.

Lynne Cheney did not reference the ancestral ties between her husband and Obama in the book.

Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 08:51 PM by Maine-ah
hey cousin! :hi:

on edit, I should prolly explain how...

Franklin Pierce is one of my Husband's uncles, however many gen's back (I need my book to give you the exact, and the BB is sleeping in there right now)so, at least for me it's by marriage only. Barbara (Pierce) Bush is a neice to Franklin Pierce so she and my husband are cousins how ever many times removed. Shit, I think I have that right.

6. Hey cosine
My common ancestor with Babara is Joseph Ketchel 1712-1769 so there is a lot of time separating us...that is good news... I would hate to think I had inherited her smirk.

8. Let me go out on a tangent here...
and say I'm not related to the little bastard. That is unless the one relative of my mom's turns out to be related, but that's doubtful.

9. Well my family tree is not all bad
I am first cousin 9 times removed from the poet John Milton. I guess that mitigates somewhat the negative.

if it were an obtuse angle rather than a cosine.

20. I made my own beer and wine years ago
But I made it in 5 gallon batches so any mistake was a big one. But I always had one of those 5 gallon glass carboys bubbling away. It was a lot of fun making it and even more fun getting my buds to drink it.

23. Mead for me.
Just little 1 gallon batches for now, but once I get my recipes settled in I'll switch to a 5 or 6 gallon carboy. Right now I'm going for seasonal recipes. I've still got no clue what I'm gonna do for spring, but I've got my fall and winter brewing right now, and I've got a rough idea for what I'm going to do for summer.

they've got a whole bunch there. All of mine are original ones that I'm still tweaking. Hopefully these two will turn out right, and they won't need any more tweaking. :)

21. This quote seems appropriate: “people can have many cousins and of all sorts,
Miss Cathy, without being any the worse for it; only they needn't keep their company, if they be disagreeable and bad.'
