2. I relistened for the first time in a couple of years
not long ago

and now I can't get it out of the mix. I listened to it back-to-back tonight. I never to that. What a great recording.

5. I need to listen to Being There again.
Mostly, I've played Summer Teeth and YHF.

Also, A Ghost is Born is great as well.

6. "Ghost" is on right now
I was a big Summerteeth fan when it was newer. I liked YHF okay back then, but now it totally floors me. Summerteeth is still cool, but not in a league with what I hear on YHF. Man...

What's the new one like? I'm woefully behind in my listening.

10. Sky Blue Sky?
It's good -- overall, pretty mellow, more country than "alt."

I even heard one of SBS' songs on a car commercial recently.

Edited on Thu Oct-18-07 01:49 AM by leftofthedial
great, great band. I loved them since AM.

on edit:

well, really since Uncle Tupelo, although I was always a Jay Farrar fan. Tweedy, though, is a total monster. In a good way.

sorry for the gin ...;

21. I presume you've heard the CDs Bragg did with Wilco
Mermaid Avenue Vol 1 and 2. They took songs that Woody Guthrie wrote lyrics for but never got around to writing music for. They added their music. Both are absolutely great.

23. Aginst the Law is about a tobacco strike
Really.

The strike took place a few blocks from where this photo was taken. Guthrie came down in 1947 and performed benefits for the strikers.

Thurs-Sun people drove in circles. West Jefferson, NC was where the Wilco was.. you could buy rubbers in the bathroom 24/7 :D

17. well, hmm.. a description
Town done a circle.. From the A&P parking lot to the Bank (forget name).

If you drove out of the circle at the A&P you'd pass the Wilco. If you stopped at the Wilco everyone in the A&P parking lot knew why. It was a well kept gas station with a condom machine in bathrooms.

:)
