Steak N Shake
Ever heard of it? It was the burger joint of choice where I grew up. They're finally opening one up here! I think I'd better buy bigger pants.

1. They're good...but sort of pricey.
For basically a burger place.

4. yeah but they're far better than McD's or BK
It's always one of our pit stops when we take a road trip to my hometown. Possibly I just love it out of nostalgia for my childhood and when I can actually have it any time I won't care for it as much.

5. Oh, I agree.
I have a special fondness for their shakes. :-) Great food. There's quite a few Steak and Shakes here in Illinois. Particularly Downstate.

Just don't go there expecting McDonald's or Burger King prices.

7. hee, I live in WI
I think there's a law that there has to be a Culvers within 10 minutes of everywhere. I like S-N-S for the nostalgia of my childhood probably

13. I was gonna say...
I'll be that somewhere in Wisconsin there is a Starbucks across from a Culvers across from a Starbucks across from a Culvers!

Lewis Black's head would 'splode!

17. very pricey, actually...
you can practically go to Outback or someplace for just a few bucks more. The S&S near me hires some pretty disturbing people as waitrons, too...

I'll have to keep them in mind the next time I splurge on fast food. :)

12. They are ok
I'm not *really* impressed with them, but they are alright. Although one time after a gig, I went to get one and it was obviously microwaved and tasted like shit. It happened one more time so I won't go to that one.

They opened one here close to where my office is and I go there once in a while. They also opened a Fatburger and they are a lot better, but pretty pricey.

18. I stopped in at a Steak N Shake
in Indiana while driving cross country back in the days when I had black hair. Nothing memorable about it, either good or bad, so I suppose it was adequate road food.
