Senior discount? S...E...N...I...O...R... Discount. For seniors.
A little while ago, I was shopping - buying some videos and DVDs for the gym daycare.

As she was ringing up my purchases, the cashier looked at me and said, "Would you like the senior discount?"

I wasn't sure I had heard her. "I'm sorry, what?"

"Would you like the senior discount?"

:wow:

That loud THUD you all may have heard was me, hitting the floor.

did you not laugh in their face? I doubt I could have helped myself. I then would have proceeded to tell them how rough it was, crossing the plains in a covered wagon.

9. Always answer Yes!
Always answer Yes! to that question. Then if they ask for ID or such to prove your 65 pretend you had no idea what you were saying yes to.

And the whole time you can smile and chuckle inside, about the stupid little shit who thinks anyone over 35 is a senior citizen.

12. OK- you may be way too young for them,
but I just entered that " golden senior discount" age group last year.

I friggin love 'em and ask for them all the time.

PS- I'm 56 and STILL try when the limit is 65.

I know- my bad.

13. I'm 41.
I've got nothing against seniors and senior discounts, but usually the minimum age is 55. It was a little disconcerting to realize that this girl thought I am about 15 years older than I actually am.

15. No.
But I certainly didn't expect to be asked about the senior discount.

Say it with me, folks. I'm only 41!

This is a recent, unretouched photo of me:

That one little question threw me into a self-image crisis!

Either that's someone who just loves to give people discounts, or you've been dissed.

Either that company should be upset, or you should be. I don't know which. :(

32. I took a day off a couple of months ago and
it must have been senior discount day. I was paying for some stuff at Kohl's. I was behind two women. One looked to be around 70 the next one around late 50's. So the girl gives the first lady her discount. The second one reminds her that she is a senior so she gets the discount. I pay for my stuff and as I am walking out the store and checking my receipt and notice that in addition to the sales and a 15% coupon I had I see another 10% discount. So I think maybe it is some unannounced sales or something. Until I look closer. It was a senior discount! I thought WTF! I was a little mad. Okay....but I guess not mad enough to go back and tell the girl to take the 10% off. :D

36. May I venture a guess as to what really happened?

I worked in retail for many years, and I can almost guarantee you that the cashier was a relatively inexperienced young lady who recently got her butt chewed out by a true "senior" who had to come all the way back to the store for a refund because s/he didn't get his/her senior discount the when s/he made the purchase in question. That, or the cashier just received a reprimand from her manager because she has been the subject of complaints re: the fact that she is not offering the senior discount when she is supposed to. So now she is being overly cautious, at the risk of offending non-seniors.

Really that is the only plausible explanation, because... you DO NOT look like a senior, dear. Not by a mile.
