How Often Do You Use Text Messages?
I'm amazed at how often I find myself using them lately. They are a simple way to communicate with people.

Very cool. I thought they were kind of dumb and thought I'd never use them, but hey, I was wrong.

What about you?

13. Let me rephrase that
I would rather text than talk for the purpose that cell phones are suppose to serve.
There is no need to call me to ask me what I am doing or when I will be there. Just text. So much easier, esp. when driving.

I often use it to see if someone can call me...

or to give a quick message

or sometimes an even longer one...

I love the sound it makes

I hate it, get a blackberry or something. It gives me flashbacks to this horrible old telephone system where you had to enter the extension by the persons last name in T9!

If it's that important I'll call - if I don't get an answer I leave a voice mail.

Plus, on my plan it is too expensive.

24. Once every couple of months. I find them a waste of time.
If I have something to say to someone, I'll just call 'em and say it. If it's not important enough to call them about, then it's not important enough to tell them about it anyway.

The only time I use it is if someone asks me to send them one, such as "I'm gonna be in a conference - text me the game scores!" or "text me so and so's number", which is easier because on most phones, the text can be copied straight into the address book.

29. Only with my (work) computer
Which sends me a note when various things happen in the market that affect my business. I feel so sorry for crackberry addicts; they don't realize how not urgent most of that communication is. I suspect they get a thrill of some kind texting back and forth. It reminds me of when only a few of us had cell phones back in the 80's. (remember those big grey walkie-talkies?) You'd be at the table talking with them and the next it was "I gotta get this". Crackberry people are like that now. They are only halfway with you, poised for their next text message.

and we're not suppposed to use our cell phones. I usually get home about an hour after hubby and the boy, so I can text if I need to get in touch without actually being on the phone.

33. I use them mostly in response to my teenager's texts to me
in his age range, "everyone" texts each other nowadays. Hardly anyone actually speaks on the phone, according to ShineBoy.

I still haven't quite mastered the iTaP thingie, I'm more old school, but ShineBoy can crank out texts faster than the speed of light.

It's kinda scary. :D

41. A couple of times a day, maybe...
...mostly to send love notes to my wife, or messaging with a friend or my sister-in-law. Occasionally with my boss or another co-worker.

Sometimes a day or two will go by without any texting. I guess I don't do a lot of it, but I had to have a real thumb keyboard for just that purpose. I've used a phone pad for texting, and I hated it.

No kidding. There are even signs that say "Don't Walk And Text".

I'm in the Philippines, and I get and/or give at least 20 a day.
