I have a question about crickets ...
and this is not a copycat of the roaches thread. That one just reminded me.

We have little black crickets in our basement. Loads of them! Someone told me that crickets are lucky and we could use all the luck we can get right now. They don't get on us or anything, they just hang around. Should we do anything? Maybe build them a condo? Wait for them to leave? What would you do?

Oh, for everyone who knows we have a house full of kitties, we can't let them loose in the basement. Too much fiberglass insulation that is uncovered/hanging from the ceiling and on the floor. Why it's like that is another story, but we don't want them to get fiberglass in their little paws and tummies. I know they would love to play with the crickets.

8. I don't have that many...
but I do rescue & release them daily. Dunno how they get into my second-floor apartment, but they're cute & good luck, so I don't mind so much. :)

Driving through town last week I passed through what seemed to be a couple of cricket festivals. Next to no crickets around most areas, but around these two light poles, one around the corner from the other, there were literally SWARMS of them. It was sorta freaky.

9. Rescue and release them?
How do you catch them? They're a little fast for me. Will I get bad luck for the ones who have died? :scared:

There seem to be a lot of them here. Dunno about a festival ... maybe they weren't invited. Just homeless families of them moving into the basement.

10. I take these giant plastic cups that my kids use in the tub,
and put them sort of in front of the cricket, then with whatever I'm going to use to cover the top, I sort of shoo them toward the opening of the cup. They usually just jump right on in there, quick as you please.

They're the cutest things... I love 'em. :)

I dunno about bad luck... I hope not... one day I caught one in the shower and left it sitting in the plastic cup all day... when I got home it was gone, so... at least it escaped, I guess.

11. Guess I'll give that a try.
They're all taking a nap in their hiding places right now.

Yeah, they're cute. But it's strange seeing them hop around on the floors.
