We got sent home from work today due to the fires

I work next door to the Musick Jail in Irvine, and when our operations manager saw that the jail was being evacuated, she told us to go home for the day. The winds are still blowing, even at home in Santa Ana. I hope these fires and wind come to an end soon!

Lousy jokes aside, yes the situation is nasty there. Our own KitchenWitch is much too close to the fires for comfort. :-(

12. We got sent home also -

Everyone who wasn't critical was told to stay home and stay healthy. Of course, only 1 out of 5 employees didn't live in an evacuation zone, so getting any work done was pretty much impossible anyway. We have also been told not to come in tomorrow and perhaps wednesday.

What sucks is that we don't know if we have to use our leave or if we'll get "company fire day" leave.
