Did you know? Middle school kids are making references to 17-year-old TV comedy programs.
Specifically, "In Living Color." More specifically, the "3 snaps in a 'Z' formation" schtick from the two characters I can't remember the names of right now. Damon Wayans played one of them. I was told lots of kids are saying it, but obviously, they have no idea where it comes from.

3. Did you see the episode when they were talking about football and had little football hats on?

 God, I loved In Living Color. Brilliant and hilarious!

Memorable quotes from Antoine Marryweather and Blaine Edwards:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098830/quotes

Antoine Marryweather: Ok, now, you're going to be the center. So take this ball, bend over and I'm going to walk up right behind you and put my hands between your legs.
Blaine Edwards: OOOH! I think I may have played this game before!

Blaine Edwards: This title gets the around the world and back snap!

4. I like the skit where they review travel destinations
And the hysterical recurring joke was how they loved Greece because the people there "bent over backwards for them".

That show was ahead of its time.

6. I know! They kept going back to Greece! ROFL!
Did you see the Men on Art where the little statue of The David was "really workin' that bow tie."
(They had a red bow tie on the statue!)

8. Yeah I saw that! Hysterical!
In Living Color used to be syndicated quite often not too long ago and it was easy to catch an episode. I haven't seen any on TV recently, but that's probably because I've cut back on my viewing as of late.

5. Then again, they may have seen it on YouTube
I'm continually surprised at what you can dig up there. It just takes one person who thinks something's worth uploading, and word-of-mouth takes it from there.

HATED IT!!!

I loved "In Living Color," especially those "Men on Film" skits. But I really do find it surprising that kids today are doing the two-snaps-up thing. Weird...

12. In Living Color was 17 years ago?
Damn I hate getting older. It makes me feel...old.

But yeah, I've seen it before, and the kids really have NO idea where it comes from. One of my students did it a couple of years ago and I made a comment about how great it is that gay culture and popular culture are becoming one (Men on Films was a skit about two gay movie reviewers, and they borrowed the movement from an existing gay mannerism). She looked at me like I was stupid and said, "It's not a GAY thing Mr. xxxxx, it's a BLACK thing!" I tried to explain it to her, but she wouldn't listen.
