SoCal DUers - Anyone else struggling with the ash in the atmosphere?
As I look out my office window the sky is an odd orange/gray combination that I've not seen since moving out here about 1.5 years ago. In addition, my allergies are absolutely killing me from all the junk in the air.

I can only assume this is from the ash of the wildfires and that the debris will be hampering the air quality for a long time.

I know my discomfort is infinitely small compared to those who've lost homes or have had to evacuate, but how long is this going to last for? It's really messing me up and I hope the air quality doesn't stay like this for long.

1. Cough, cough....hack hack...
last night I dreamed I went to an oxygen bar or some kind of
place like that and paid a fortune just to breath clean air for awhile.

...I hope it gets better for you soon.

The sky is quite funky looking, isn't it? I got some interesting pictures at about sunset last night. The San Fernando Valley actually had what appeared to be a wall cloud (the kind that tornadoes come out of), except that it was smoke rather than an actual cloud.

I've been taking large doses of allergy medication, but I haven't been able to consistently breathe through my nose since Saturday night.

Small fry compared to what a large number of people in Southern California are going through, to be sure, but it is still quite obnoxious.

I'm guessing our air quality will get increasingly better, as the Malibu fires are nearly contained and they're gaining containment of the Santa Clarita area fires. It seems that's where our smoke is coming from, rather than from Irvine or San Diego.

On edit: they were taken with a cell phone camera, so the colors aren't quite as vivid as they were in reality.

7. 4 years ago, after the cedar fire, we had ash coming down 6 months later.
This fire is worse by the way. I coughed for 10 minutes this morning.

12. Hey KitchenWitch
I was following your status concerning the fires the past few days but lost track. Are you ok and did you not have to leave your house?

Hoping for the best...
