I just finished dinner, and I wonder (share your dinner!)
what is it about brussel sprouts that offends so many people? To me they're just like mini cabbages, and cabbage is about as mild and in-offensive as it gets.

So I had 1/2 of a mini meatloaf, 1/2 a baked potato w/ gravy, and the sprouts (which were sauteed in olive w/ garlic and crimini mushrooms)

What's for dinner at your house?

2. I had a vegetarian stuffed green bell pepper with rice, cheese, and marinara sauce,
with a small side salad and two chocolate chip cookies, and I had cranberry juice to drink (not plain - it was some kind of a blend). :9 (I also had a sliver of chocolate cake. :spank: ) :hi:

apparently Brussels sprouts are also used to torture children in Belgium, just like they are here.

Also, they're not called Brussels sprouts there. ;)

13. The cabbage angle is exactly why I don't like them.
I do not like cabbage at all, and I think I would disagree that the smell of cooking cabbage is mild. ;)

We won't eat until later (it's only 4:30 here), but the plan is hotdogs on toasted buns, French fries, green beans, and lemon squares.

17. I love brussel sprouts
well tonite is the first night I have cooked in a couple of weeks. So I have to make everyone happy.

I am making nachos San Antonio style, where each individual chip is smothered with beans, topped with cheese, broiled till the cheese is nice and melted. Possibly with grilled chicken finished with fresh homemade guacamole and jalepenos.

I'm also making arroz con pollo for my mom. I found this kick ass authentic real ass Tex-Mex cookbook(most recipes from SA) about six months ago and I have never screwed up my rice since.

Edited on Wed Oct-24-07 07:21 PM by TK421
and yes...I don't understand people's aversion to them. I've heard they smell or taste bad, I don't think so.

When I cook them, I throw in some garlic salt and a little browned bacon fat to liven it up.

Everyone who has eaten them has given high compliments. Yes...basically, they are small cabbages

25. When you are a child and your step monster makes you eat a whole plate of brussel sprouts, which you
hate, and you can't leave the table until your plate is clean, and then she saves your plate for breakfast............you tend to hate brussel sprouts............forever. :puke:
