NL...welcome to AL baseball. No pushovers in this league.
The Phillies and the D-Backs were AAA teams.

17. Ha ha ha...
I was hoping for an Angels - Cubs series. Unfortunately both teams got knocked out (swept) in the first round.

Instead we have to deal with the douchebags vs. the pushovers. :eyes:

21. Yeah...but, see...it's just that
I live in Colorado. I'm not a Rockies fan and I don't really follow 'em, but they were bigger underdogs this year than my Cubbies were.

2. Ahh, I see.
A team has ONE off night in 23 games, and they're labeled as a AAA team. I see.

Doesn't sound very kosher to me.

5. Phillies got in on a historic collapse. D-Backs scored fewer runs than they allowed.
Not exactly sterling competition.

8. So making the playoffs isn't a sterling accomplishment?
The Phillies had to be red-hot to beat the Mets into the playoffs... The Diamondbacks had the best record in the National League and swept the Cubs in the NLDS.

6. One must recall that the Rox played in Boston
during the regular season.

If memory serves, that series went to Colorado -- the NL team -- 2-1.

That is all.

Carry on.

9. But...it's just the first game.
Ain't like the series is over. If I'm not mistaken, there are 54 outs in a game. Minumum of four games, that's what...216 outs? And we're how many in?

Relax.

this series. I won't even have to make a decision about MNF next week.

It's just basic math. I'll bet you could do it yourself if you tried really hard and got out some scratch paper.

Now...back to work for me.

Huge favorites living up to odds makers predictions, swamping inferior team with runs.

Bosox vow to get 143 hits in the series, one for each million of payroll!

Sorry. Try again. :-)

Besides, I've never cried about "bought championships" and "being an underdog." Doesn't matter to me in the least. It's another story for the Red Sox Nation though, isn't it?

11. This is the part of the post-season I don't look forward to
The shit-stirrers come out and post flame bait, and some of 'em can't even keep it about their ball club — they've got to make it about entire leagues.

Talk about bush league. :eyes:

15. This is why I hate Boston fans.
At least the Yankees fans have *SOME* class (term used loosely). The Boston fans have this holier-than-thou complex and it pisses fans of the other teams off.

18. I don't appreciate the broad-brush hostilities that show up, either.
It really kind of brings a whole sandbox (litter-box?) mentality to the game. Not fun.

to any team the NL can field this year. The 4 playoff teams in the AL would be favored over the best team in the NL this season.

33. Yes, all of that is hard to deny. The only thing I would say
is if the Rockies had home field advantage, they play like the '27 Yankees in Denver.

Doesn't mean they're better than many of the teams they beat there. They just play magical baseball at Coors.

Speaking as a Giants fan, Coors is a house of horror.

Although Barry hits well there.

35. Well let me just say this. I have no connection to the
Yankees living in California.

But if Barry signs with the Bombers, I will be pulling for NY next season in the AL.

Barry deserves nothing but the best, considering he's clean as a whistle. No failed drug tests and has never broken as single MLB rule.
