I'll get back to you on the other one. According to the Netflix site, they will be down for maintenance until 2:45 am my time, which is too late for me.

at this time of the week.. should be back up in another couple of hours

We've been with netflix and blockbuster on/off for three years - we have the 3-movie plan

for the most part we are happy with the selections, the problems develop later on depending on your "usage"

We would get the movies in the mail anywhere from Wed through Sat, watch them over the weekend and then ship them right back. This put us in what they call "heavy user" category - and in the fine print they can 'delay' shipping out the next set of movies on your list.

Which means the movies we were planning on watching for the weekend don't show up until the following Monday or Tuesday.

the other thing that causes delays are holidays when the post offices are closed - not much you can do about that

ennywho - regarding the HEAVY USER status. When we get tagged as such, I cancel the Netflix account and open a new one in my partner's name. It's a pain, but it gets us back to a regular shipment of movies. When she gets "tagged", we cancel it and open one with blockbuster until we get tagged by them, then we swap names and eventually back to netflix and repeat

Blockbuster does the same thing regarding heavy usage, and yes blockbuster does allow you to return movies to the store etc - but for us the nearest blockbuster store is 20 miles away and not on our regular routes for running errands

I've done some searching for other movie places similar to netflix/blockbuster, cost wise it's about the same, but their selections are pretty limited.
