As I was dumping the loose change out of my pockets last night, I found some sort of Panamanian coin. It must have been confused with a quarter, probably several times over, since the size, shape, and color is almost identical to a frequently-circulated quarter. The top of the 'head' side of the coin has notches at the top and bottom of the coin - which probably aren't supposed to be there - with the words "Un Cuarto de Balboa" written in all caps, with the 'U's set as 'V's, in the way we associate with old Latin. The back has "Republica de Panama", with a depiction of an eagle - or some similar bird - standing above a shield. It's dated 1993.
Can anybody tell me a little more about this coin?
