There's an armed man assaulting people in my apt. complex.
I had a notice pinned to my door this morning warning there has been several armed assaults in the parking lot of about half a dozen buildings here. A generic description was given, but it means next to nothing- should I now avoid all average-height black men with gold teeth?
At least that explains why that unmarked cop car was parked outside last night.
I have GOT to get a pistol. I will NOT be assaulted without an equal response available to me. I will NOT.
4. I have kept an "L" frame S&W under my pillow my entire adult life.
It's not be my weapon of first choice, but it can provide me the time needed to get to my feet and retrieve my weapon of choice. A 12 ga. just doesn't fit under my pillow.
With any luck somebody will shoot holes through the perp so decent folk can live in peace.
How do you touch one off accidentally? A single action auto like a Glock I agree, there's no way. But a double action revolver doesn't go off accidentally.
8. In a gunfight, having your own gun might be a good idea.
Too late for your current situation though. You can't just buy a pistol and expect it to do anything but get you killed unless you train with it. I have a carry permit but rarely carry. I rarely go anywhere at night and am very careful of where I go when I do. I have it in case I need to carry in response to a specific threat. It isn't something you can do in a day. Hopefully the cops will nab him soon. We have been getting a LOT of store owners/clerks shot over money in the Nashville area lately. Things are getting bad in our economy so expect a LOT more of this type of crime.
