Oooohhhhh haaahhaaahaaaa! Yes there were lean times when I had to dub CD's to tape at home, but now that I have the mp3 player with a cassette adapter, my sounds are teh RoXXors! Your CDs were no good for a car, what with their need of careful handling instead of just ripping out the cassete and tossing it to the back seat when you want to put another album on, knowing that the cassette could take the rough treatment. All I need now is to put a little velcro patch on the dash and my mp3-cassette system will be totally PIMPED!

2. Damn straight, brother!
Cassette-adapter power!

That's how I play my iPod (and before that, my MP3 CD player) on the old beater tape decks at the factories I've worked in!

Peace!

3. Oh...
I get it.... I missed that part. Yes... I do the same thing with my iPod - but I have a holder that recharges it as it plays and I do use the cassette thingee.

You are not insane after all. I missed the yummy parts of the OP.

5. I play my iPod in a grundgy mono tape deck...
that, after the latest drop, no longer gets FM. And the belt that drives the tape hub broke some time ago.

Needless to say, I'm the only one that uses that particular device...

:-)

Most can also come with iPod adapters.

7. I miss the cassette player from my old car.
My previous car had a sensible set-up: cassette player + radio in the front with the CD changer in the rear. My new car has TWO cd players: the changer and a single cd player in the front. That's so stupid! Why would I want two cd players?

10. LOL!
My mother just gave up driving and gave me her old car this summer. I sighed when I looked in and saw the cassette player (time to go rooting through the closet for that old crateful?) but brightened when I remembered I had one of those adaptors. It's iPod jammin' with many playlists all the way nowadays, bro!

14. because I think there's a scene in which Kevin Bacon removes a cassette
and tosses it aside in order to put another cassette in - one with tunes he can dance to!

(He was also driving a yellow VW bug)

I love when the song stops, the 8 tracks whirs, clicks and flips over to the other side. I miss those days.

21. I do too.
It has a usb port that I can plug in a flash stick drive. If I load songs as individual files I can put as much music as the flash will hold.
I have several drives that I keep on a key chain.Days worth of music on a key chain.
The equivalent in cassettes or 8-tracks would require a semi trailor to haul it around.

Pretty damned cool if you ask me.

22. Those totally don't work in Chicago. At least not the couple I have tried. You can
never find a clear enough patch of radio to broadcast without fuzz. Luckily both of our cars have tape players and cd players.

25. Two words
Front jacks.

More and more in-dash players have front stereo mini jacks and/or USB ports.

Something to consider when it's time to upgrade.
