What love song really gets to your gut... I mean...
... What song is just so beautiful that it physically affects the way you feel?

3. A Case of You
Love songs aren't usually my favorites, I mean they don't usually get to me, but this one does, "You're in my blood like holy wine, you taste so bitter and so sweet" Love is complicated, to me.

9. I will never come back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUiuU-_odic

When you find yourself far away,
When you want me to be next to you
You won't find a single memory of me
or have the love I gave by your side.

I swear that I'm not coming back
Though life tears me to pieces
If once I loved you with madness
You are now gone from my soul.

I will not come back
I swear this by God Almighty
I say this crying with rage
I won't come back.

I will not stop
Till I see that my tears have made
A river deep,
In which I will drown your memory.

We were clouds that the wind pulled apart
We were rocks bouncing off of each other
Water drops dried by the sun
drunken brawls that never completed.

I'm taking the train to oblivion
my ticket has no return.
what you have of mine you can keep
but I won't return your kisses.

13. I've got couple
These two are oldies:

The Fleetwoods - Tragedy
The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes for You

then there's Tears in Heaven which Eric Clapton wrote after his 4 year old son died in a fall. It is a very moving love song. "Would you know my name, if you saw me in Heaven?"

14. Hallelujah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMrZ7lChK-g

Absolutely shreds me every time, mostly because many of the lyrics ring so damned true for me. Some of the events in my life mirrored this song in a spooky fashion, long before I ever knew the song existed.

like this bit:

"Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah"

and this part

"There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah"

Seriously. Just fucking agony for me.

17. this song omg
This is one of my favorites of all songs, it's so beautiful. I have cried it a lot of times, not for sadness or because of love but just because the words are beautiful. I saw k.d. lang sing it in concert once and I lost it  it was a happy kind of cry just because I love the song so much, but still embarrassing.

18. Two come immediately to mind
One is "You Can't Always Get What You Want," which I consider the greatest rock song ever. I think it has the best arrangement of any song, period, but the real reason is choirs at crescendo damned near make me come. (I've sung with many choirs, and lemme tell ya — when the conductor holds both hands above his head and you're just nailing it, it's like great sex.)

The other is "Comfortably Numb." I know it's cliché, but I could swear Roger Waters was inside my head when he wrote it. But the thing is, I didn't know that stuff was in there until I heard the song. Sometimes I think I'm the only person on the planet who truly knows what it's about, and more often than not I can't get through it without crying.

Don't ask me to explain. I can't, really.

First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time my love
It would last till the end of time my love

The first time ever I saw your face, your face,
your face, your face

Edited on Sun Oct-28-07 07:15 PM by WinkyDink
THE LAST THING ON MY MIND
Tom Paxton- Deep Fork Music
/EMI Partnership Catalog ASCAP

It's a lesson too late for the learnin'
Made of sand, made of sand
In the wink of an eye my soul is turnin'
In your hand, in your hand.

Are you goin' away with no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind?
Well I should have loved you better,
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind.

You've got reasons a-plenty for goin'
This I know, this I know
For the weeds have been steadily growin'
Please don't go, please don't go.

Are you goin' away with no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind?
I could have loved you better,
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind.

As I lie in my bed in the mornin'
Without you, without you
Each song in my breast dies of bornin'
Without you, without you

Are you goin' away with no word of farewell
Will there be not a trace left behind?
Well I should have loved you better,
Didn't mean to be unkind
You know that was the last thing on my mind

39. I can't get Youtube, but this one always gives me chills. It's by Dido.
"I didn't hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here
And I don't want to move a thing
It might change my memory

Oh I am what I am
I do what I want
But I can't hide

And I won't go
I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

And I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me

I don't want to call my friends
For they might wake me from this dream
And I can't leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that's been

Oh I am what I am
I do what I want
But I can't hide

And I won't go
I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here

I won't go
And I won't sleep
And I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

And I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me

Oh I am what I am
I do what I want
But I can't hide

And I won't go
I won't sleep
And I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here

And I won't go
And I won't sleep
And I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me"

It sounds like a woman singing about her loved one in Iraq.

Reduces me to tears every time(high school sweetheart doncha know).

Faded photographs, covered now with lines and creases
Tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces
Traces of love, long ago, that didn't work out right
Traces of love

Ribbons from her hair, souvenirs of days together
The ring she used to wear, pages from an old love letter
Traces of love, long ago, that didn't work out right
Traces of love – with me, tonight

I close my eyes and say a prayer
That in her heart she'll find
A trace of love still there somewhere

Traces of hope in the night
That she'll come back and dry
These, traces of tears
From my eyes

45. There are quite a few
One that comes to mind is "It Don't Matter to Me" by Bread because I was listening to it recently. I don't care if people like to make fun of Bread; a lot of their stuff is just beautiful, and awesome, in my view.

Oh yeah, there is also "You Took My Moonlight Away" by The Poppy Family, a Canadian pop-psych-easy listening-folkish-type group from the early seventies. In fact, there are several songs by that group that get to me.

And "Layla" still effects me emotionally, even hearing it for the five hundredth time...
