What the heck happened to Megadeth?

I used to be a big Megadeth fan - that is, until I picked up their latest CD, United Abominations. The CD is full of anti-UN, anti-Islam, pro-war sentiments. Look at some of these lyrics:

"Saddam Hussein violated 17 U.N. resolutions; The U.N. was asked to join the
war in Iraq. The U.S. invaded, Ha! there was no U.N."

and

"And to beat violence, you must ignore the focus groups
You must send in the Mossad, turn of the BBC, CNN
And don't look back
Rest assured there'll be no more Middle Eastern crisis, hell!
There'll be no more Middle East!
These are your people Liberty
Pull up your dress today
And tattooed is "property of The USA
A subsidiary of Halliburton"
Surprise?!

I read awhile back that Dave Mustaine converted to Christianity - has he now become another right-wing nutjob? Maybe he and Ted Nugent can go on tour together. Or better yet, maybe they could go hunting with Dick Cheney.

But he did make a lot of great music back then. When he first became a Christian he continued to be kind of a lefty politically speaking and he gave up the dope. Remember "Foreclosure on a Dream" from Countdown to Extinction? How about the pro-environment tune from the same album? But evidently he went from being a cool Christian to being a Bush boot-licker. How people go from being a cool lefty to a right wing sycophant I will never know.
