I get an inordinate amount of pleasure at putting together furniture.
I've never been able to do it very well before. And, really, I am not good at it now, but I am beginning to end up with actually functional pieces.

1. I am an IKEA maven - as far as the assembly goes.

2. What are you talking about?
Haha! Does Ikea furniture require putting it together? Have I missed something in the furniture making world?

3. Yes, most of IKEA's stuff is packed in flat packs
And is self-assemble. Obviously some of the couches are not self assemble, but just about everything else is.

I like it, putting it together makes me feel handy.

6. Me too! And painting walls. I always want to say "Look! I did that!!"

I think it's because I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to home repair or remodeling, so when I can do anything I'm thrilled.

(seriously, when I'm in Home Depot, I always get "You look lost!?" from every associate I encounter)

10. ...Ikea fuckin' LIED!

I survived, and they look good.

In fact, I came up with an idea to use that bookshelf extender that I bought but couldn't use. I'm going to buy the 'short' version of the Billy bookcase in the matching finish and screw the extender onto that one. It'll be about the same height as my TV unit, so that will work out nicely. :-)

11. That is cool!
I do like IKEA stuff. I have two of the BENNO CD/DVD Towers. I want to get two more.

12. I think I'll be all set when I get the bookshelf
I'll need to get a bunch of magazine organizers, then I'll put all of them on the smaller bookshelf and i'll look all cultured and shit! :-)

4. OMG, give me a Saunders furniture flatpack and I'm
in hog heaven. I never follow instructions, and always get it put together entirely too fast and easy. Nowadays, I've graduated into breaking out the tape measurer and picturing what I want and just building it out of prefinished shelving boards. What I wouldn't give to have a job just designing and building furniture. I'd be the happiest worker that employer ever had.

I guess what I'm using way too many words to say is: I love it too.

5. I LOVE assembling furniture.
In my apartment at the moment, I have a TV stand, a night stand, an office chair, and two bookcases - one big, one small - that I have assembled myself. It's more fun than it should be, but when you have that assembled product and it looks like it's supposed to... Now THAT is a good feeling!

7. I think we all need to hire ourselves out to put together other people's furniture.
:)

Have electric screwdriver, will travel.

13. I put together this cherrywood filing cabinet/end table
for my RV. I needed a small end table to put in front of a storage shelf--something that would offset the things that I had on the shelf, but not be so big that it hid the things on the shelf (plants). AND, I need a filing cabinet to put my daily paperwork in. This thing is beautiful and the drawer slides out seamlessly. I look at it and can't believe I put it together, myself!

The only thing I need to do is put it on rollers so that it's easy to move when I put my slides outs in, to go on the road. I wonder if there is a small base that I can just stick it on and then take it off of, when I have it where I want it? I don't want it rolling around, hitting stuff, when I'm driving.

14. Working with your hands
has that effect. You actually get to see your progress. Even better, when you are done you have something you will use. It all makes for enjoyable work.
