Holy crap! someone was beaten to death at my alma mater!
It was homecoming weekend too, good thing I decided against going down for the night because it was too rainy out. It's tragic and scary because I don't know how many times I walked that exact route on a Saturday night

2. tell me about it
I wonder if a tragedy like this will get the cops out patrolling for safety and not just handing out parking tickets and alcohol violations

3. lots of violent crime in non-principal cities
i was living in the beaumont/pt. arthur area in texas and was surprised at the numerous murders there.

small town/medium-sized towns are really in a pinch. when the only place to work is walmart and everyone is smoking crack and meth, bad things are likely to result.

4. outside campus...
"the boro" was a pretty scuzzy town, I wouldn't walk around it alone after dark. I also wouldn't want to walk where that kid was walking alone after dark (although I have) it was dangerously close to an area of campus we referred to it as the "rape trail". Ironically enough Glassboro borders Washington Township which is one of the wealthiest areas in South Jersey...go figure

6. Yeah things are pretty bad in Philly right now
in my hometown of Trenton, I think about 25 have been killed so far this year mostly gang related which is astounding considering it's a city of only about 80,000 people
