1. Hmmm...back to shortstop mebbe?
Here in NYC I won't miss him so terribly. Interested to see what's next, for all involved.

DENVER (AP) — Alex Rodriguez opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees on Sunday in what appears to be the end of his career with New York.
Rodriguez’s decision, announced by agent Scott Boras during Game 4 of the World Series, makes him eligible to become a free agent.
Rodriguez loses the final $72 million in guaranteed salary in the contract, of which $21.3 million was to be covered by payments from the Texas Rangers to the Yankees. New York had said it would not attempt to re-sign A-Rod if he opted out.
Boras said during a telephone interview Rodriguez made his choice because he was uncertain whether Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte would return to the Yankees.
“Alex’s decision was one based on not knowing what his closer, his catcher and one of his statured pitchers was going to do,” Boras said. “He really didn’t want to make any decisions until he knew what they were going.”

9. I'm serious
It was bad enough in the '70s when they picked up ex-Giants Juan Marichal and Dick Dietz. If they sign that shit-sucking motherfucker, they'll lose my respect. The Dodgers had the best minor-league system in baseball until they tore it down a few years ago. I will NOT support a ball club that tries to buy a championship.

12. Total payroll in 2007 was $121 million.
$88 million is already on the books for 2008.

I think he's worth making a low-mid bid.

13. Leave it to the Evil Empire Yankees to steal the spotlight
Can't they let us all have our Yankee-free World Series please!?

Must we be bombarded with their name-dropping personell nonsense?

"Torre, Girardi, A-Rod, Riviera, blah, blah....."

16. That's funny...A-Rod and his agent decide to go for more money
make the announcement while the World Series is still going on (even though he has ten days after the Series ends to decide to opt out) and it's the YANKEES' fault.

Yankee hatred will make you silly alright.

18. No kidding...I only pray that the Yankees let him go
We won World Series with Charlie Hayes and Scott Brosius at 3B. There is plenty of life after A-Rod.
