Poll question: Sox fans: do you want A-Rod?
Now that he has turned down his deal with the Yanks, do you want this guy.

1. Not a Sox fan, but if I were a GM for any team
I would not touch him with a 10 foot pole.

4. He's the best player in baseball today. And no, it's not even close.
I not only sign him, I offer to tear off my left pinky and hand it to him if it'll get him to sign.

(I'm taking Sox to mean my White Sox here, btw, because I totally can and you can't stop me)

5. Hell, yeah!!!
As long as we re-sign Lowell, too. Let A-Rod move back to short, which is his natural position.

I know there's a feeling of "who needs 'im?" around Boston right now, but, seriously, how could adding a multi-time MVP be anything but a good idea?

(Although, to be honest, I'd be satisfied with him going to an non-AL-contender team.)

8. I know, but I'm not sure I could stomach him.
We've already got JD Drew - we don't need a more expensive iteration of him too.

6. No, no, no.
He's a helluva ballplayer. Really, he's good.

However, he'd be no good for the Sox. I'm in Seattle--I've seen him work. Yes--good player, but not a good fit for the Red Sox.

9. That's one hell of a mental picture ya got there.
Can Lowell also sport a glove that emanates flames while he's out there?

19. You're gonna need somebody to replace Lowell ...
Isn't he a free agent? That Series MVP thing makes him worth a lot to somebody (hopefully an NL team).

Mike Lowell Named Series MVP

Third Basemen Hit .400 In Series

DENVER --

Mike Lowell is much more than some throw-in on a Red Sox trade. He's the World Series MVP.

The steady third baseman capped an outstanding October with a big performance Sunday night,
earning MVP honors as Boston finished a four-game sweep with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado
Rockies.

snip-->

"I'm on Cloud 9. It's unbelievable," Lowell said, his glistening MVP trophy sitting right
in front of him. "We've got a lot of people to give credit to."

snip-->

Lowell, who also won a World Series ring with the Marlins in 2003, hit .348 thi
postseason with two homers and 13 RBIs. He did it quietly, like almost everything.

But that doesn't mean it went unnoticed.

About 15 minutes after the final out, a huge horde of red-clad Boston fans behind the
third base dugout chanted "MVP! MVP!" for Lowell and "Re-sign Lowell! Re-sign Lowell!"

:P
