Ptah!! Dude! We got troubles in SPACE - Astronauts Find Metal Shavings Under Space Station's Hood...
'Debris Found During Spacewalk Could Be a Sign Part Needs Replacement

Share Engineers are working through the night to analyze the photographs of shavings found in the malfunctioning solar array rotating joint on the starboard side of the International Space Station.

What does this mean for the space station if it is not fixed?

Mike Suffredini, space station program manager, says this problem has the potential to prevent extending the life of the space station past 2015. It was discovered that the solar array was vibrating, which, Suffredini says, has an effect on the fatigue life of the structure.

Suffredini added, however, that dealing with this problem is just another day in the life of maintaining an orbiting outpost like the space station.'

4. Ya sure. Blame it on the shop.
We filed that assembly by hand.

In a clean room.

With the Wet-Dry vac going full blast.

The problem can be remedied with judicious application of
American Ingenuity.

8. when i told hubby you were a machinist, he told me a story about: Bugatti...
hubby's dad is a master metal worker, and told him as a boy about the manner in which/lengths to which Bugatti would go as regards hiring people to work in his highly skilled machine shop...

he would hand them a piece of metal, and begin to conduct the interview asking them questions about their families, what they would like to accomplish in life, their loves & pursuits, etc...

after a time he would graciously, if business-like, thank them for dropping by to speak with him, and they would soon part ways and so the process would repeat itself accept that...

in the morning, Bugatti would peer very carefully into the metal that they had been handling over the course of their interviews; he was looking for any Ph variables imposed upon the metal itself that would indicate to Bugatti that these prospective, as such employees were able to bring; or more specifically that they were able to bring a physicality to the machine shop that would not impact upon the strict tolerances that Bugatti himself imposed upon his, oh, shall we say: .0004 matters, that they not be pulled any further than his specs called for by way of chemically 'pitting' the materials; a very precise man Bugatti
