7. It usually has some relation to the point of origin of the fire.
The Witch Fire started in your kitchen. Oops, I mean the Witch Fire started in the "Witch Creek" area of San Diego County.

10. There was a fire here in September 1970 called the "Kitchen Creek Fire." If it was
still burning now, and if it merged with the Witch Creek Fire, it would be called the "Kitchen-Witch Complex."

9. On the first map that came out, the type was so small it looked like "Homo Fire"
Still people were pronouncing it the Horno Fire, then they finally switched to the correct pronunciation (the H is silent so it sounds like "Orno Fire." As far as Poomacha, I have no idea. I have lived in this county for 25 years and I have never heard of "Poomacha" before. I think that fire might have started on an Indian reservation, but there is no Indian reservation called "Poomacha." I'd be interested to know how they picked that name.
