Wow. I am a big freaking jerk.
Edited on Mon Oct-29-07 10:11 AM by LaraMN
I was hormonal and crabby all weekend and I was a total jerk to my husband, who (as usual) pretty much tolerated me. If he acted toward me the way that I did toward him, I would NEVER put up with it; not even if it was for several predictable days every month. I'm not sure why it *just* occurred to me that I'm basically a big hypocrite about my own behavior. I think I'd better produce an apology and do something nice for him. I can't believe what an asshole I can be. The poor guy.

:scared:

1. Being "hormonal and crabby" doesn't make you a jerk.
However, were I he, I'd still want "something nice" so to speak.

*snicker*

6. I ponied up somewhat.
But I still think I owe him.
Maybe he wants a cheesecake.

11. There's no "owe" in a relationship like that.
I'm sure you're a delightful partner, regardless of a crabby weekend. Like HE'S never crabby, right? Yeah, thought so.

13. I once got drunk
and threw up on Mission Street in SF in front of TWO husbands (first and current.)

I apologized to the first one the next day. "Like you've never seen me drunk? Don't worry about it." The second one quietly took the car to the car wash.

2. have you checked w/ your doctor?
besides regular PMS, there are other hormonal disorders that you may be able to get treatment for.

7. I've avoided stuff that interferes with my hormomes, to this point,
(well, since my husband got snipped, anyway) but I'm starting to think maybe I've overestimated the benefits of "going natural," if it means I'm psychotic and nasty for several days every month...

18. Evening Primrose Oil
helped me tremendously for a long time.

Are you familiar with PMDD - it's like PMS on steroids, btw. There is NOTHING you can "do" to control yourself when you become hormonal. That's like telling a diabetic to control their insulin production by force of will. Sometimes your body needs help.

3. I don't do that, I just flip and have some horrific stress breakdown once a month.
I'd have killed me by now. Or got a tape recorder.

"No, you're not going to fail all of your classes. Calm down." "I'm not mad at you about anything." "You look fine."

8. Lol!
I had a *massive* hair crisis on Friday; it was "the ugliest, stupidest hair on the face of the earth!!1!"

In reality, it probably looked preeetty much the same as it always does; I just had the ugliest, stupidest attitude on the face of the earth.

4. Join the club
I have been known to fly into lamp-hurling rages under the influence of hormones. It abates exactly 48 hours before the start of the flow.

I began to take the medicines and wear the nice jacket with the arms that tie around the back. Everything is all better now.

9. Bwahahaha!
I don't throw things, but I have been known to kick inanimate objects.
It's the catharsis.

16. ProgestaCare, baby
Cream made from yams--all natural, just smooth it on your skin once or twice a day like lotion. I am no longer psycho each month--just a teensy bit weepy (sentimental-type weepy) for part of one day instead. Trust me--if this can help me, even with my thyroid issues, which exacerbate all hormonal problems, it sure can help you! :hi:
