We lost a kitty last night...

He hadn't eaten for a couple of days; so I was going to take him to the vet today. But his condition suddenly deteriorated, and he died. I watched Link come into the world almost 15 years ago. He was an athlete, turning somersaults to catch his favorite toy... feathers on a string. And he'd always manage to find a way to get to the most unreachable places in the house. Once he even walked along the molding in the living room to get from the top of one curio cabinet to the other.

He was a shy kitty; and ran downstairs when anyone came to the house. But he loved to sleep on my stomach at night.

We only have one left now. Tails misses his brother... :cry:

(As an aside, my best friend had a pair of cats named Link and Zelda, and they were some of the funniest cats I've ever met. Zelda was a fluffy white Persian that looked like an overgrown tribble, and Link used to love teasing her. He fell asleep in the food dish more than once as a kitten.)

Tails and Link were sons of 'Tastrophe, whom we took in on a cold rainy March day. She was pregnant when she came to live with us; and before we could get her fixed, she got outside and got pregnant again. Her second litter gave us Tails, Link, and two other kitties who have since left us...Waffles and Sonic.

There are no good words to say to someone who has lost an animal companion. It is just one of the most painful experiences in the world, even more so because so few people understand how much it hurts.

106. I had to do that with my 15 year old cat a couple of years ago

He was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and I tried chemo on him for about a month and half hoping we had found it in time but we didn't so I had to let him go....... He died with me telling him how much I loved him.
