Have a question re: LCD monitors
Greetings DUers!
I have a question regarding the LCD monitor hooked up to my PC. Allow me to describe the situation.
About a week ago these "spots" appeared on my screen, about 1/8" across. At first I thought I might have sucked in a virus or something. So I ran my virus scan twice, back to back. I also ran my spy-ware remover, my disc cleanup, and even defragmented my hard drive for good measure.
No change.
The spots are arraigned in repeating pattern, 2 vertical columns of 4 spots each but not quite aligned directly with each other. This double column pattern repeats itself evenly across the screen. The spots also change color depending on the background they appear in. Against a black background they are blue, against a white background they are yellow, and against the medium blue background of my wallpaper they appear as dark blue or dark grey. What is even weirder is that if you take your cursor and scroll the page down these spots merge into nearly solid vertical lines, again 1/8" in width and 1/2" apart on center. Spaced across the entire display.

To add to the mystery, there are now these little pinhole spots, also arraigned in a pattern, that stay with the movements of the cursor when I move the mouse.

As far as I can tell, I have noticed no loss in my PCs performance. I can still surf the web and still use my software without any problems. The only problem I have noticed is when watching
streaming video or short video downloads, these tend to go screwy, but sound comes through fine.

I did send an email to my older sister who quickly replied to me that my LCD monitor is on its deathbed. Look for my warranty or start shopping for a new one, was her advice.

I humbly ask if anyone has had similar experiences. Was my sister's diagnosis correct? Does anybody have a possible alternative explanations and/or advice as to what to do about it?

Any/all opinions welcome! Thanx in advance!!

"wrong" position.

Pixels and Groups of Pixels are either on or off...sounds like some of yours are not receiving the off/on switch.

It's deeper than that but the bottom line is...Wait until a good-quality brand of Monitor is on sale and buy it..until then..your computer is fine.. :)

8. No, Carnivore usually leads to Moire patterns or 3x4 blocks.
