A new job is like a new boyfriend...but you get paid!
Man, I didn't realize how much I was feeling taken for granted at my old job. Three days into the new job and I feel like I'm still being courted. POSITIVE feedback and even when they correct things they're very encouraging and supportive. I overall have gotten a really pleasant, friendly vibe from everyone I've worked with and I can't believe how good it is for morale.

just most of them!

10. Congrats, Connonym!
I was just thinking how different my present situation is, compared to past-job-HELL. I'm a writer, and I used to work full time at a small magazine. My editor was the biggest frickin' ASSHOLE this side of the Horsehead Nebula. And to write for him was a nightmare. Pitch a story idea, the response was "no" in a nanosecond (because he only used his own ideas, which he stole from other magazines); write the story different from the way he would have (like, oh, I don't know--use the facts you get instead of the vague notions he'd have on the subject, or dare to write in your own style/voice), and he'd carve it to bits and make it completely ridiculous and disjointed just to fit his idea of how it should be. I was ashamed of my stories after he finished with them. Four years of that crap, and I quit to freelance.

I just got a gig writing a couple of stories for a magazine (in a field that's near and dear to my heart), and the editor and I see eye to eye on EVERYthing--story ideas, story angles, tone, length, you name it. I cannot believe the difference. It's heaven!

So :toast: here's to both our new jobs--ain't life grand?

11. That is awesome!
I wish all of us who are taken for granted could get that experience. :)

I hope it continues to be that nice for you.
