9. I got an epidural this morning.

I was fine right afterward, but now it's getting damned painful.

Temporary nerve compression because of the stuff they injected into my spine has caused some pain and tingling in my feet. :(

Every time I move I get stabbed in the back, so I'm sitting here at work refusing to move. Let me tell you, I'm being so productive today.

I don't know if I'll be online much. I'm not ignoring any of you. I'm just trying to make it through the day until the supposed benefits of this procedure show up. :(

If I can function well enough to have some free time I'll definitely be here to keep myself distracted. :)

40. I'm having an epidural on Monday

I've had two nerve blocks in my upper body - which was scary because it affects your breathing. But never below the waist. I'm wondering what it's going to be like. I know I'm going to have pain in my knee when it wears off, that's where I'm having the arthroscope, but I wasn't anticipating pain from the epidural itself.

I have a stupid question. What if you have to go to the bathroom? How do you know?

42. The epidural doesn't block you from feeling anything.

Unless they're pumping you full of painkillers. Chances are they're pumping you with anti-inflamitory meds, or steriods, or some other kind of med, so you'll still feel everything. You just, hopefully, won't feel your back pain quite as much.

I'm in a lot more pain now. But that is supposed to fade and I should be in less pain soon.

I hope your epidural goes well. My surgeon swears that this is a very safe and effective proceedure. Maybe I'm just having an unusual reaction.
