Should I make my son hand out candy? Instead of me?

I just carved the pumpkin, decorated a bit more, tidied up the front yard, and I'm about ready for a beer!

In my days before parenthood, my neighbors and I used to sit on our adjoining porches with a few brews and hand out the treats....

I love that stuff.

The wolfman and a pirate were just here!

my son is still doing his Spanish homework.... :eyes: Somehow I think the whole thing has lost his interest!

3. One year, my then teenaged daughter wanted to do it...
She dressed up as a pirate, complete with eye patch and sword...

She would yank open the door and yell "Whaddyawant?!!"

A few were scared, but most of the kids loved it!

And of course it was great for me... ;)

Alas, she's all grown up now, and has her own home to take care of!

5. I think some grownups love to scare the kids
one of our neighbors has a serious graveyard, with bats and a Bates Motel sign, and all the grave stones and coffins....

4. We put the kids on the porch for a time...by the end of the evening they were yelling:
"COME HERE! FREE CANDY! TRICK OR TREAT AT OUR HOUSE!!!" :D

(In my neighborhood, not only do people sit on porches with beer...some of them hand out beer, shots, cider, etc...)
