1. I haven't...
but I'd like to.

I'd love to see Carmen.

2. Yes! You will have a lot of fun...the opening (prelude) is one of my favorite
preludes in opera...

3. I have.
I was surprised at all the different songs from that one I actually knew. I thought I only knew one or two, but I was humming along to a lot of them!

What opera company is doing the production?

It's the Curtis Opera Company in Phila.

From the Curtis School of Music.
It was excellent. My only disappointment was that they were not in period costumes, but rather in modern clothes, and set was modern also.

It's my second opera, and I'm planning on seeing many more.

5. Yep
Wish the opera wasn't so expensive. We used to go to Baltimore because it was cheaper than the Kennedy center, but even that got to be outrageous for season tickets.

18. This was cheap. $16.50 per seat. (1/2 price seats)
Not the same as the Met or NYC Opera or Philadelphia Opera Company, but still very good.

6. Going to the opera tonight: Don Giovanni
Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center, yes the tickets are damn expensive but the productions are superb.

We saw "View from the Bridge" two weeks ago and it was wonderful.

8. Yeah, I've seen it
If it ain't got a cross-dressing rabbit & a gay wedding ceremony in it, it's a snoozer.

Damned Looney Tunes has ruined classical opera for me.

11. I played in the orchestra for it
and let me say, that bassoon part can be a real bitch!

but its an amazing piece, one of Mozart's best.

12. Are you seeing the one with Bryn Terfel & Simon Keenlyside?
Are you going to the Met? If so, then I would say it's all your damned fault that you're making me commit the sin of envy.

I may have to buy a box of tissues and a pound of expensive chocolate to make up for it...

Probably one of the most accessible operas for those who haven't seen many operas.

Glad you got to go!
