1. I had one that went terribly wrong...

There were not only 15 copycats (yes, I counted them) which were very snarky, started by people who didn't post in the original... what's worse-- there was a post from one DUer saying the only reason he posted was because he was asked to. Now, I cringe at the thought of another one ever being started for me. :-(

When I'm sitting on the bed and ThinkBlue1966 is on the computer posting at DU, I often look up and see your poor struggling duck taped to the wall and say "Oh! There's graywarrior again I see!". Yes, we have come to associate you with the duck (or is it a goose?). ;)

I don't believe in starting appreciation threads for precisely the reasons described in the OP -that it makes other people who may have put their time and effort into either contributing to this site or to the progressive cause IRL to feel excluded and left out.

But, if I did believe in appreciation threads, I would have started one for you years ago. You are one of those whose contributions to this forum keeps me coming back to this site and I for one -and I'm definitely not alone -greatly appreciate and value your posts and insights here beyond what words could adequately convey. It just wouldn't be the same without you
