A lot of my friends and acquaintances are getting engaged, but I'm not ready for that yet (especially considering I'm not even dating anyone at the moment!). I suppose I've still got some time, though - my parents were 27 when they got married (I'll be 22 next month), and I want to have some time to live on my own for a while before I "settle down" with somebody. :hi:

54. Congratulations, CaliforniaPeggy...
...the same was true for my parents. I've got to say that I witnessed some EPIC battles growing up. But at the end of every single one of them they were the "people who belonged to each other." There are times to walk away and times to work it out, and my parents came from a generation where you worked it out. It was the second marriage for both of them and they were determined to make it work, no matter what. They did.

We have never had any really big fights...

Our crisis was more subtle...

I would not want to be without him, nor he without me...

We both feel as though we don't deserve each other...

But we do, at the end of the day...

Happily destroying America by not getting married!

I never wanted kids and since most of my dating experiences in my 20's were wife/mother auditions I figure I might be interested in dating again when it's physically obvious I'm not getting pregnant- that will eliminate me 'wasting his time' since I'm not having kids. Or I can get more cats. :)

Whew! It turned out that she felt terribly guilty after feeling good sensually.

It'll probably never happen. I've grown so used to not dating, that I'm content with my own company. Though there's a lass in our London office that recently made my heart thud when she was over here...and she's coming back this week! So a couple more thuds to feel human again for a bit.

my sister and brother in law bought a house in the town where they are going to college. It's a lot cheaper than paying rental fees, and it's an investment!!! When the kids are finished with school they will either sell the house or rent it out to other students.

72. Happily divorced 2X, thankyewverymuch
The first was like my best friend, but had a bad habit of sleeping around. To this day, I suspect he was bi, but that is a story in itself.
The second was a Repuke of the worst sort, controlling, abusive, and anti-social. I was sure he was going to murder me someday.
A day in my life: he would come home with 2 sick horror flicks per night. The type where the females are being murdered, but to hear it in another room, it sounded like they were having orgasms. He would replay those scenes over and over.
I left with our daughter while he was at work...I was that scared of him. Actually, some dear friends had an intervention with me of sorts as he was keeping me homebound and afraid. They gave me the strength to leave.

My daughter was only 1 1/2 years old, but she bears the scars of her dad's anti-social ways.
She keeps hooking up with abusive boyfriends trying to earn their approval.

I managed to get out, but it breaks my heart that my daughter lacks the self-esteem to stand up for herself.

Happily divorced, hell yeah!

75. Glad you had the courage to bail out!
That is scary but you did it! Good for you!

I bailed out too. Same sort of abusive controlling BS!

I fled... literally, across the country.

Teach her to stand up for herself and/or get her in a women's self esteem support group.

78. I am working on it
I am glad you were able to get away, too! It is scary, and to move across country must have compounded the stress you already had!

I am working on my daughter to just move on home and continue her nursing career. Her partner just purchased a home out of state and told her, "if you leave after I purchase this home, you will have hell to pay".

This home was all his idea for his two daughters from a previous marriage. I advised her NOT to sign any documents, but he will need her income to help pay for it. You know how lenders are and they loaned him way too much money. He is trying to entrap her, basically.

She is 23, he is 34. I am just trying at this point to be a safe haven to come home to.

79. As far as She, I, and my dear and omniprescient Lord G*D are concerned: yes. Yes I am.
The Government is another story. The less they know
about my private life, the better.

82. Next month is our first anniversary!
This year has been an amazing adventure. There's no one I'd want to spend the rest of my life with besides him.

93. 22 years married (24 years together total) and better than ever
He invited me to his house for dinner on our first date, I moved in that night and never left. We both knew we were the ones for each other immediately. I'll qualify that story though with advice: finding your "true" love doesn't mean marriage is any easier or smoother. We've had some epic battles and really low YEARS together but through it all, getting divorced or separated was never an issue.

And now that we're so far into this relationship and we've gone through so much together, I can honestly say it's still a wild love affair for both of us.

96. Not just no, but HELL NO!!!
Single, never married. Almost sorta came close once :scared: to Baron von Dickhorn, common-sense kicked in, though.

I HATE sharing my "space", and having a kid, much as I love the little shit, is MORE than enough of that for me.
