Hey, have you guys noticed that threads in the Lounge rarely get enough recommends

at one point it was decided because the threads from the Lounge that got recommended were mostly silly stuff. So now no Lounge threads on the Greatest page. No matter what.

I've sort of gotten used to checking out just the greatest page and realized tonight that I hadn't seen any lounge threads in a while. It begins to make sense now. I'm very sad and annoyed that I don't remember when that decision was made.

I'll have to come by more. Just because DU ignores the lounge, it doesn't mean I want to. This is where the cool kids hang out.

I check GD and GDP every day but barely post there. Since I am European I can't really say much about American politics and people I've never heard of before. It's like I would talk about Roland Koch. I am sure you have no idea who he is.
Anyways, I met a lot cool people in the Lounge and found friends for a lifetime here. Friends that became RL friends.

I've made cyber friends here and have met many of them at protests and other gatherings and they are good people.

edited to add: When I found DU, it was the deathknell for Livejournal for me, even though most of my friends there are also RL, I just like it here better. I can't imagine ever having 8000+ postings there!

I thought Lounge threads were not allowed on the Greatest Page, something about us being loony/locked up in the padded cell that is the Lounge or something. Or at least that is the way they look at us over in GD, the snobs. We know how to party. They don't. I say we infiltrate them and get some Lounge Lunacy voted all the way up to the tip top of the Greatest Page. What's the highest current vote record on the Greatest Page? Are there enough of us to do it? :evilgrin:

Which was always facilitated in the past by some of the wackier threads making it onto the Greatest Page. I just checked and even though this thread got 5 recommends (five people who understood why my devil smiley was there) and it isn't on the Greatest Page. You guys were right. There's a conspiracy to keep the good people of the Lounge quiet. Therefore, if you want a lounge thread to make it to the Greatest Page, you must start it in a "respectable" area. That sucks but at least you now know the appropriate civil disobedience strategy. :evilgrin:

And I won't tell because while I do spend the vast majority of my time with the stuffed shirt wonks over in GD, I am also an LL in my heart. Those people really need an infusion of fun right about now. They are thick in the primary wars. Ugly, ugly, ugly!
