Wanna see my new rig?

From top to bottom:

Yamaha YPT-310
Roland JX-8P
Korg SP250 Digital piano
Edirol PCR-300 Midi controller

Behringer UB2222FX Mixer

Modules (beside mixer)

Korg P3 Piano
Yamaha FB01 Sound Module

I play primarily on the Korg piano. It's MIDI'd to the YPT-310 using the Edirol as a patch controller.
This allows me to use its internal voicing separate from its keyboard (which I usually have on slap bass). It took my hours to program 23 separate patch changes and I've got a little map telling me where everything is.

The JX-8P is MIDI'd to the P3 and FB01.

I've had it out on one practice gig already and it didn't do too badly. I've got real gigs Tuesday and Wednesday in front of important people.

Need:

  • 3 mike stands
  • cables
  • 2 speaker stands

I might have a look at a bigger amp as well.

5. Booked the gear for Monday night
Was thinking about buying the speaker stands but they're only $4.00 to rent and I don't have room for them in my studio.

14. I wish
The only thing the Yamaha FB01 does is organ sounds. To do it properly I have to lug a Leslie around the size of a refrigerator. I'd replace it all with the B3 at the drop of a hat, but it's out of my price range right now. I'm hoping to spot one in a pawn shop.

22. If you ever see a creamware b4000, that is the best substitute I have heard...and MUCH lighter
creamware is now called soniccore, I am not sure they make them anymore...I have their scope cards in my music PC, and they are quite nice sounding.
Even got me to let go of some vintage hardware.

But to the point...

nice rig, what kind of music? Samples?

11. Just like Lakshmi, you're taking away gigs from bass players and drummers.
She can rock like TWO Keith Emersons.

15. I could use a bass player and drummer
Edited on Sat Dec-15-07 01:57 AM by TrogL
Notice I don't have any drum modules?

I do have a Roland MIDI drum set but nobody to play it.

I've also got an Alesis drum module, but it lost all its patterns and I haven't gotten around to reprogramming it.

18. I assume the Korg has keys with weighted action?
I'm so tired of using an ASR-10 as my main controller. It feels like a wet paper bag.

20. It's got perfect weighted action
One gig I play they want nothing but classical music so I play a lot of the easier piano literature. Its action reminds of Bosenderfer weight rather than Steinway (I hate Steinways).
