I found where the mice were getting into my kitchen,
and stuffed it full of steel wool. And then I found a bat on my (enclosed) back porch. My God, I live in a zoo!!

How was your day?

1. Well, I had to get up very early and take my father to the VA hospital and
then go to Walmart.

Other then that today has been OK.

3. He is OK, getting ready for his eye surgery after Christmas.
He has one eye finished, should have had the other one finished already.

I cashed my gift cards from Walmart for a all in one printer, scanner, copier.

Couldn't get out of Walmart fast enough.

8. I had to come home and take a bath after Walmart.
The store wasn't busy so I didn't have to wait to long at the checkout.

Hate to be there tomorrow.

4. Ooh
now you have to remove the steel wool so the bat can get out.

But be sure to put it back in before sunrise, else the bat will come back and roost for the day...

:D

5. I picked the bat up in my handy-dandy long-handled dust pan
and threw it outside. It didn't move, so I don't know if it was dead or asleep. There was once on in the church that didn't move, and some people insisted it was asleep. Not being a bat expert, I was in no position to argue.

But, thanks to my long-handled dustpan, I got rid of him without touching him. I'm eternally grateful for my long-handled dustpan.

7. smart
and lucky the bat didn't wake and fly up your skirt. :p
(that is a pic of you and your long-handled dustpan, isn't it?)

I hope you're rid of your mice and other creatures, so they stop skittering through your walls, and you can sleep comfortably.

9. Umm, that's a generic long-handled dustpan pic I found on the internets.
I only wear skirts on Sunday mornings, or for funerals or weddings. Otherwise, I'm allergic.

Haven't heard any mice since the one met the cats. I'm hoping his buddies decided to look for more comfortable accommodations after that. At any rate, they can't get into my kitchen anymore....I hope.

It's always a pleasure to know others have had a great day!

Oh, and the user name referred to the critters I WANT to have in my house. At least, that was the intention:)

18. I wish our critter problems were solved so easily....
I dug the Christmas decorations out of the basement today, and everything was covered with those little blue pellets of mouse bait. And of course, the obligatory mouse poop. Ugh.

And I think we have chipmunks in the attic. I can hear them scurrying around up there when I'm trying to sleep. Plus a I saw a huge fat horsefly in the breakfast room. (Where do they come from in the middle of a snow storm? Eeeeek.) Oh... and the ladybugs are invading in search of a warm cranny to winter over.

The joys of country living! :hi:

20. Chipmunks in the attic?
You hear them singing "Christmas, Christmas time is here..." when you're trying to sleep?

Try screaming "ALVIN!" and see if they shut up.

21. I will tell you a secret for excluding mice
You've got part of it almost right. But steel wool rusts and mice will just pull it out. The real secret is to use copper mesh and expanding foam.
They must be used together, though. Singly, the mesh gets pulled out or the foam get chewed through.

If you have a limited use, you can use Brillo copper pads. But if you have lots of places to stop up with copper, go here.
