Sucker must've hit a tendon or something because my pinky and ring fingers feel like they're sprained. :(

6. Then, you're good to go
for another 6-8 years.

If you got this splinter within the last 12 hours, apply ice (on 10 min.-off 10 min.-repeat for up to several hours as needed), and am hoping you've taken some sort of anti-inflammatory to help reduce swelling.

:pals:

7. Tetanus shots last that long?
See, I'm not sure — it could be three or four years, but no longer. I have a crappy capacity for determining elapsed time without some point of reference.

I took ibuprofen. Didn't do ice because it's already cold enough. :scared:

16. Silly! Applied ice is different
and you know it!

Tetanus booster shots are recommended every 10 years. So, you are probably witin the "safe" range still

17. PS
Since it's a puncture wound, wash every 3-6 hours (warm water and soap), and use hydrogen peroxide to help bubble out any dirt/bacteria.
Hope you put some topical antibiotic on it and a bandage to help keep it clean and heal well.

2. Nah
'cause I usually dig it out with a pen knife and leave a festering wound instead.

3. I have
I had one like that once that left the side of my hand where I'd gotten it kind of numb and wierd feeling for over a month. I figured it hit a nerve or something but it was not fun.

Did you get it out? :(

5. Yeah, I got it out right away
Then I ran cold water over the hole for a few minutes — which, come to think of it, probably made it worse, since the water here is best described as "chunky."

9. In my early teens I was "sword fighting" with a stick and my
opponent got in a lucky shot which sent a splinter deeply into my bicep. I pulled out what I could grasp, but some of that splinter remained and has been there for over 50 years. I can still feel it if I press the spot with my fingers, but since it causes no pain, it has remained there and shall remain there until I die.

15. Hopefully not at the same time
Though maybe a few bamboo shoots under the nails would distract you from the pain of... other stuff. :D

11. Yep
Many years ago. Appropriately enough, it was in the line of political duty. I had been putting up signs for Bob Preston, a state senator who was running for governor that year.

18. Do those two fingers hurt, or are they numb? If it's the latter, the splinter
may have hit a nerve.

Just watch it for the next couple days and make sure you don't have any 'red lines' going up
your arm.

What was the splinter from?
