Poll question: Do you secretly dream of being president?
Someone recently told me that all men want to be president. I thought I should ask the lounge to see if this is true...

1. I am male, and I WANT to be President.
I would have Al Gore and Dennis Kucinich helping me out.

I would make everything right.

2. I am a female who does not want to be President.
In fact, sometimes I think one has to be a tad bit insane to even run for President.

However, I do believe I could do a better job than the current White House occupant.

10. It's a pipe dream, but sure, that would be cool

First thing I'd do is dismantle practically every piece of legislation that Bush crammed through the political process. Department of Homeland Security: gone. Military Commissions Act: deleted. USA PATRIOT Act: fileted.

Oh, and that splendid little excursion in Iraq? We're bringing the troops home right now. Except for a select few that we'll send into Pakistan to extract Osama bin Laden from his hidey-hole no matter what Musharraf or the Carlyle Group has to say about it.

Then I'd turn my attention to George W. Bush, just as he was about to fly to Paraguay for his cushy retirement. He'd learn at his airport that his passport has just been revoked, his assets have been frozen, and there's at least one warrant out for his arrest. But maybe, just maybe, he can slip past the Federal dragnet if he runs for the Mexican border on foot...

And on Thanksgiving eve, I want to ask my aide, "Get me the Butterball hotline."

13. I am female and I would make a phenomenal President
However I am 100% unelectable. I'm agnostic and bisexual, with a long-term same-sex partner, a bad credit rating (yes, such things matter), an arrest record (a mistake, and the charges were dropped completely when I went to court, but still) and a child out of wedlock. The nation would never allow one such as I to steer the course.

Oh well. I can always be the behind-the-scenes mastermind for some promising Democratic politician--the liberal, less-evil version of Karl Rove, if you will. :)

21. I have sincerely thought for years that
those who wish to become heads of state are mentally deranged. Maybe I am wrong. I like the idea of a reticent president, though; much better than the resident president.

Maybe I can adapt my hypothesis to be those who seek power over others are mentally deranged; then it would include more abusers and CEOs.

hmmmmm.

Shitty hours, not so great pay (for the hours/responsibility), plus you have to live in a freaking fishbowl. No thanks.
