2. To add to the other post...

Urban decay and poverty may have been decreased, stronger social safety net, a true type of Universal Health Care by the 1980s, etc. Will the U.S. be perfect? No, I don't think so, but a hell of a lot better off than it is now.

We would be a lot like Europe, with universal medical coverage and a more equal distribution of wealth.
I wonder what this would have meant for old European colonies that became independent in the 1960s. Would they also be a lot better off, suffering fewer of the wars they've gone through in the past few decades?
