It uses Google maps and Google Earth. You click on the map to outline the route you run or walk and it computes the distance for you. It will also show you the topography. If you register it show you how many calories you burned! You can save your maps and share them with others.

2. Nifty. Now that I'm in a climate where I can go out jogging without dying from heatstroke I've been

making sure I get out at least twice a week.

Huh. Looks like my route is a little longer than I thought. I was just doing a short circle around the block, I thought it was less than a mile. Turns out it's almost a mile and a half.
