Tonight on tap at Tavernertavern: Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA

An excellent session beer. Just like you would want when the future of the free world hangs on a spiderweb thread. Like now, in Iowa. Funny, the Bear Republic website says that Racer 5 is available in Iowa. I wonder if the people caucusing right now are drinking it, or planning on drinking it afterwards, or even thinking about it. Chances are, they're thinking of something else. Like why they live somewhere so freakin cold.

Anyway, its a good IPA. Not sour like some IPA's, not bitter for bitterness sake - but a nice, clean, hoppy beer. The kind where you can almost smell the hops basking in the sun around Mt Angel, Oregon. I love these kinds of IPA's. The kinds that go for the floral aroma of the hops. Cascade and Simcoe hops I think, but I don't know.

1. Bear Republic does beautiful things with hops.

Unlike any other microbrew I've tasted. My faves are the Hop Rod Rye and the Red Rocket Ale. :9

I had only had Racer 5 a few times, but it's going into heavy rotation now.

The other day, I made a great pot roast and used Busch when crocking it.
