1. They did their best work in the early 70s with Ozzy
Why is it that rockers do not get better with age?

2. I saw the Ozzy reunion version...
...a few years back at Ozzfest. I remember and savor every second of that concert. (I'd been clean and sober for 8 or 9 years by then.) I was hyper-aware that I was seeing something that I thought I'd never see and probably would never see again. Kind of how I expect to feel if I get a chance to catch Led Zeppelin in the near future. As I was walking out of there at the end of the show, I screamed at the top of my lungs "I JUST SAW BLACK SABBATH DO WAR PIGS!" and a few hundred people screamed back at me in agreement. Great experience.

3. I went an Ozzfest a few years ago...
in hopes of seeing the Ozzy reunion Sabbath, but were told at the gate they wouldn't be playing and we could get a refund if we wanted. I should have taken it because I almost had a seizure watching System of a Down.

5. There's only ONE real Black Sabbath.
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 06:44 PM by Kucinich4America
And that's these guys.....

These guys were a great band, in their own right. But it should have never been called "Black Sabbath"

This was "Purple Sabbath" A combination of two legendary bands, but not really deserving of the Sabbath name.

And anything between that and 1997 was a FUCKING JOKE. Except for the Live Aid reunion and Dehumanizer.

(And the "Dehumanizer" tour would include the show that Halford sang at, because Dio was too much of a pussy to share the stage with Ozzy)

7. Supposedly, Sabbath fans really disliked "Smoke On The Water" in the Gillan Years set list
I'm a real deep Purple fan, so I give Ian credit for the "old college try," but "Smoke On The Water"...no matter how much I love it...is probably the last song that should ever be played at a Sabbath show. At the time, the band did not consider this.

8. I missed that tour, unfortunately
But it sounded pretty good on the bootleg I heard. Definitely better than any version that Blackmore did with any inferior singers like Joe Lynn Foreigner Clone.

6. The Ozzy Years were the best
Peaking with "Sabotage" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".

Hell, even "Never Say Die" was better than any of the Dio stuff. The Dio stuff had one, maybe two good songs an album. Ian Gillian (Born Again) BS was pretty cool though - that album beats the Dio stuff in my opinion.

9. "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" contains my all-time favorite Iommi riff and Ozzy vocal
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 06:56 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Holy CRAP, who could resist the one-two punch of

"Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies...you bastards..."

followed by "THAT" riff?
