I went ice skating today for the first time in 44 years!
I fell down only five times -- the fourth time I fell I slammed down so hard on the ice I wet my pants, but the fifth time I fell down, I didn't spill a drop of wine! I'm so proud of myself!

2. Isn't it fun?
I went ice skating this year for the first time in several years. It was fun and I plan to go once a week or so for the rest of the season.
BTW, congratulations on trying it with wine.

5. Good morning, ruralib! We're in Colorado in the foothills, so
yeah, the skating was on an acre pond. We'll be able to skate until the end of February. And by the way, my butt freakin' hurts this morning!

7. I know just where you are. I spent a summer in Conifer/Pine Junction.
We were just back there visiting family for the holidays. Took the kids sledding -- good times.

I have been ice skating recently ... That's a good thing about kids, they get you out there doing stuff.

8. Hey, Oregonian. We live in Conifer. Did you make it to the
Bucksnort or any other adult place of libations while you were here?

9. Oh yeah -- the Bucksnort!
How could I forget! :toast:

We went into Evergreen to the Little Bear (??) or something for live music and libations. That was mid-90s, though.

12. The Little Bear is an institution.
And the bras hanging off the rafters have been there for as long as I've been going there -- about 25 years. No, none of them are mine!

6. awesome! I went roller skating for the first time in 12 years Saturday
and my legs are killing me! And the blisters on my right foot... ouchie. But it was a blast!

I used to skate as a kid - mostly roller, but some ice - and it started coming back to me, although I still felt kind of clumsy most of the time. I remembered how to turn around, but could not make my legs keep me going once backwards - I could do the motion forward though.

The last time I skated was a dozen years ago - probably about 18 for ice skating - and before that it was maybe another 8-10 years, but I want to do it more regularly now. We have ice skating downtown here in Cincinnati - when it gets cold again, I'm heading down there I think.

10. Alcohol and ice... BAD COMBO.
Wrist guards, kneepads, buttpads and helmets. Tell us all how you feel, not tomorrow, but the day after.

Ice skating is a dangerous sport. It's NOT abour your ankles, it's about proper equipment. Between tipsy adults and wild kids it's a wonder there aren't more unnecessary injuries.
