OMG - the weather geek just said "The Doppler has been working very hard today"
dude, you just turn the thing on, it does not work, it just shows the weather systems moving through.

If anything the storm worked hard. The Doppler only recorded the storm in a graphical way.

1. No, you're wrong!

The radar had to...erm...produce and transmit...um...a whole bunch more...ah...dopplers than it usually does. And dopplers don't grow on trees, you know. They have to be individually hand-crafted from the finest young dopps, harvested by peasant girls in the foothills of Doppleria. It's very hard work.

3. If we allow that "the Doppler" is inane geek-speak shorthand for weather radar,
the weather doofus was right. During storms, NWS radar switches to precipitation mode, which involves faster rotation and more elevation angles than clear air mode. If it's been stormy all day, the radar has indeed been "working very hard." So, put that in your uber-literal pipe and smoke it... :P

6. D00d, they had to call in the Calvary to help poor Doppler.
I swear there's a bubblehead quota for each TV news team.
