Do you think some people ...
..get off "scot-free"?

I was thinking about this...

regarding everyday life, injustices, and crimes.

A teacher once told me, when I was young,

"Nobody gets off 'scot-free' with anything."

I believed it.

But the older I get

the more I wonder

if that teacher was wrong.

What do you think?

1. People do it all the time.

I just try to not let it bother me.

5. But some crimes, for example, can't help but bother a person. nt

8. Well yeah, sometimes you can't help but be bothered.
I mean, if some kid who stole a candy bar doesn't get caught I'm not too worried... but if there's a murderer or rapist or someone who talks in the movie theater that gets away with it that's gonna stick in your gullet. That's kind of a given.

2. All actions create energy complexes which must be balanced.
According to some texts that I've read.

10. I'm an alcoholic and can witness things getting out of control inside myself.
And I note the effect when I use techniques and am of service, and they unwind and evaporate. I tend to believe some spiritual teachers as I've found their messages to be true, through experience.

I -have- to cultivate the positive in order to survive, but even the mere practice of doing so is creating awareness and positive habits. Recovery in the 12-step programs is based partly upon creating positive habits of selflessness and honesty. It's easy to see where a large amount of negative habits can lead.

Regarding actions such as BushCo, who have caused many to die and many more to suffer, and whose legacy of suffering is only just beginning (watch the economy), they are said, and again I have to believe these extrapolations until proven incorrect as I've seen the truth in other statements, shall either suffer massively from extended stays in the lower realms as they burn off the negative karma (energies from actions), but they still have the seeds of these actions because of their prior -practice- of these actions. Habits are formed and are part of karma, or karmic potential. Whatever habits you are filled with, you take with you, and will then find the easiest actions to take.

This is the same thing as being aware of the deadly sins and temptation, because negative habits do form and the more of them you begin forming, the more likely you will say "why not" and go with the flow.

How many of us actively practice selflessness and charity?

11. Being positive is a habit... an important habit, at that.
I've been thinking about that a lot recently, too. Thank you.

12. People often get away with stuff.
Especially if they're in positions of privilage or authority.

Bullies almost always get away with it, and often get rewarded for it.

Discrimination is based on people getting away with unfair treatment. So in that regard, people get off scot-free in many, many ways every day.

13. I think you are right, Thom
And I fear it was naïve of me to think otherwise.
